Pilot study
Areas for improvement and potential can be found by a pilot study, which may include all, or larger or smaller parts of the supply system.
The pilot study includes:
· Interview of customers, suppliers, employees, depending on the scale of the project.
· Analysis of relevant data.
· Review of processes (follow workflow routines, instructions, information, IT, etc.)
It can usually be conducted in 1-5 weeks, depending on the project scope. The result is a brief report describing the areas for improvement and their potentials.
Workshops
Improvement areas divided into smaller specific themes and objectives. It could be:
· Increasing complementary sales by at least DKK 20 million.
· To improve the delivery service rate to at least 99%
· To bring the inventory value under DKK 10 million.
· To bring the purchase prices down by at least 10%
· To save at least 20% on distribution costs.
· To bring the lead-time in production down to the half.
· To reduce tool change time on a particular machine to 1/4
· Etc.
Each workshop consists typically of 3-12 participants, thus make a team.
Throughout the workshop, the team will be coached in appropriate tools, techniques, methods, project management and following up.
The result of this method is:
· The workshop reach the targets
· The workshop participants will achieve a significant team-building effect
· The workshop participants will achieve a significant competence lift through the tools, techniques, methods, project management and following up.
